My Fellow Fishkateers, "Loraine", the KUCI benefit 2xCD is nearly completed. I'm just waiting on the release forms before I send off the CD's to be pressed. My special thanks to Brian from Gearwhore and Alex from Lexaunculpt for thier help in mastering and enginneering this compilation. They have graciously donated thier time and studios to see to it that this is a quality compilation. When completed, the compilation will be available through the following channels (so far): Dr. Freeclouds Mixing lab - Costa Mesa, CA Noise Noise Noise - Costa Mesa, CA Modern Music - www.modernmusic.com (online mailorder for those of you outside of southern california) And yes, I'm spelling it with only one "r" on purpose. This will be the first release from Peach, with more coming this fall. This 2xCD compilation is strictly limited to 500 hand numbered copies. All proceeds will go to KUCI. There will be a limited number of promotional copies available to non-commercial public and pirate radio stations. If you're such a station, please E-mail me. Wednesday, June 24th 1998 8-10pm - Special Guest Skylab2000! Dennis Barton of Skylab2000 will be coming down to talk about his new 12" "Rollergirl" (yet another Heather Graham refrence) and his new EP "Daybreaks," both on Phat Phunk Records. For those of you who have head your head in the sand (or other unmentionable places) for the past few years Skylab2000 is one of Southern Califronia's premiere live acts. They spend most of their time playing across the continent, and are finally releasing some of the material you previously had to see them live to hear. Skylab2000 also has a new track called "smile" on the upcoming KUCI benefit 2xCD "Loraine." Wednesday, July 1st 1998 8-10pm - Live Performance by Lexaunculpt! Alex Graham hass come along way since he first appeared in the KUCI studios with a demo tape last September. He went under the name "Hazel Window" for awhile, and then on to "Your Choroid Coat". After refining his sound, he settled on the name Lexaunculpt and just released his first EP "oh, here's some noises" on Shad T. Scott's label, Isophlux. He's currently working on his next release, and EP due out on a new Orange County IDM label, "Orange". He'll be playing a blend of unreleased material and material off his new EP. Alex also has a new track called "Center and Santiago" on the upcoming KUCI benefit 2xCD "Loraine." Space Disco For Fish Tacos has been on the air for two years, featuring weekly live performances by electronic musicians from southern California and abroad. A bit of Clarification: KUCI Is a closed studio, which means we are not equipped to have an audience, so please don't ask to come down. Exceptions have been few and far between, but due to recent theft problems I will definitely not be allowing people to come down for the show. Whereas nothing has been stolen during my show, I intend to keep it that way. In addition, I am not able to make copies of live performances for listeners. I understand that people out of KUCI's signal want to get a hold of some of the live performances that I have, but those performances are the property of the artist and out of respect for them I cannot make duplications. However, once the signal is released from our transmitter, I have no control over listeners making duplications. -Daniel 9-5SuperSpy@kuci.org ICQ# 16654223 ============================================================================== Listen to "Space Disco for Fish Tacos", KUCI 88.9fm Wednesdays 8-10pm Space Disco For Fish Tacos web site: http://www.kuci.org/~dbremmer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Cheerleading is my sport, Jesus is my life." On August 31st, the Orange County Register put me on the cover of the show section. Here's a web version of the article in case you missed it: http://www.ocregister.com/archives/1998/08/31/entertainment/kuci031w.shtml Thanks to everyone who has been supportive of electronic music on KUCI by either purchasing Loraine or coming to the Loraine release party. For more information on Loraine, see the peach website at www.peachfuzz.net. Wednesday, September 9, 1998 8-10pm: Gearwhore Performs Live Be sure to tune in as Gearwhore wreaks havoc upon the KUCI studios. Prior to his Astralwerks release "Drive", Brian Natonski had performed on the show twice. A few months back he chose Space Disco For Fish Tacos to premiere the album, and now he's going to show off his new live set. Now he has a live bass player and a percussion duo called Vector Tribe backing him up as he plays guitar and electronics. He might even play the track "Space Disco For Fish Tacos", which can be found on Loraine, the 2xCD KUCI benefit compilation. For more information, check out the Gearwhore web site at: http://www.caroline.com/astralwerks/gearwhore/ Wednesday, September 16, 1998 8-10pm: Surface 10 Live Performance Dean DeBenedictas has been making a big impression in the IDM community as of late. His self titled first release on the Hypnotic Label went largely unnoticed, but his recent Live performances and his contribution to Loraine have made people take notice. If you caught him in the mountains above Malibu for Cyberstock or at The Santora Arts Colony for the Loraine release party you'll know what to expect. Surface 10 has a track entitled "When are we going to grow out of this Kraftwerk shit?" on Loraine, the 2xCD KUCI benefit compilation. Wednesday, October 21, 1998 8-10pm: THC Performs Live THC is the brainchild of George Sarah. After releasing an EP of Hard Trance entitled "Consenting Guniea Pig" George began writing drum n' bass material. When he teamed up with Vocalist Sarah Folkman, his gothic roots got the better of him and the Duo began enlisting the help of a string Quartet for their live performances. Whereas THC has performed on Space Disco For Fish Tacos twice before, this will be the first time He's brought the entire 6-piece live band. In addition to the "Consenting Guniea Pig" EP, THC has released two instrumental 12" EP's on San Diego's Intelligent label, a track on Kevin Lincoln's K2K compilation "Los Angeles: Critical Mass" as well as the Track "Branded (Instrumental)" on Loraine, the 2xCD KUCI benefit compilation. Space Disco For Fish Tacos has been on the air just shy of three years, featuring weekly live performances and interviews by electronic musicians from southern California and abroad. It's early, and I just returned from the Ninja Tune show at Atlas. Morris was a god as usual, and I was really impressed with Amon Tobin's set. Unfortunately, Jonah Sharp chose to DJ instead of play live, but he put on a good set as well. Now I'm looking foreward to Bauhaus at the UCI Bren Event Center on Friday. I'm goth as fuck, and that makes me punk. For those of you still trying to get a copy of Loraine, Noise Noise Noise in costa mesa and Skimo/modernmusic online have recieved new shipments. For more Loraine info, go to www.peachfuzz.net. KUCI Is now broadcasting via the internet! KUCI broadcasts 24/7 on the internet througha java-based streaming technology. All you need is a net connection (faster the better) and a modern browser (AOL is not modern), try it out at www.kuci.org. Wednesday, September 23, 1998 8-10pm: Two Silver Boxes vs. Ultrawide Two Silver Boxes is comprised of DJ's Jbondy and The Fisherman. Last time they performed on Space Disco For Fish Tacos, they brought along thier buddy Dave, who goes under the name Scatterbrain. We turned out all the lights in the studio, set up candles and let them improvise for nearly an hour. The trio then released two excerpts of that same performance, one called "Tone Error" on the Socal-Raves compilation and one called "Tex Tep" on the KUCI benefit compilation "Loraine." When it came time for them to play the Loraine release party, they brought along another buddy named Malcom, who along with Scatterbrain go under the name Ultrawide. So now, all four of them are collectively known as Teo Silver Boxes Vs. Ultrawide. This time they're planning on doing a completely ambient set. Confused? Don't feel bad, I just recently got it all straightened out. Wednesday, September 30, 1998 8-10pm: Surface 10 Live Performance Dean DeBenedictas has been making a big impression in the IDM community as of late. Surface 10 has a track entitled "When are we going to grow out of this Kraftwerk shit?" on Loraine, the 2xCD KUCI benefit compilation. This show marks the three-year point for Space Disco For Fish Tacos. Wednesday, October 21, 1998 8-10pm: THC Performs Live THC is the brainchild of George Sarah. Some past guests have included (In no particular order): Mixmaster Morris, Ben Neill, Uberzone, Electric Skychurch, Bassland, Skylab2000, Mushroom Nation, X-Calibur, Gearwhore, Paxwo, Hive, Surface 10, Variance, THC, Mark Trance's Deep, Cathexis, Sumi, Quadra, Tipsy, Lecanoscope, Control X/Front BC/Liqui-Fly/Mental Blox, Arjuna, Dimension 23, Liquid Mind Warp, Bleu, Entrancing Iris, Phthalocyanine, John Tejada, Robert Rich, Hazel Window, Your Choroid Coat, Low Res, Not Breathing, The Angel, 2 Silver Boxes vs. Scatterbrain, The Electric Company, A Produce, Max Vaxx & The Rain People (and the list keeps growing). -Daniel daniel@peachfuzz.net ICQ# 16654223 ============================================================================== Listen to "Space Disco for Fish Tacos", KUCI 88.9fm Wednesdays 8-10pm Space Disco For Fish Tacos web site: http://www.kuci.org/~dbremmer *New* Peach Web Site: http://www.peachfuzz.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "Cheerleading is my sport, Jesus is my life." For those of you still trying to get a copy of Loraine, Noise Noise Noise in costa mesa and Skimo/modernmusic online have recieved new shipments. Wednesday, September 30, 1998 8-10pm: Surface 10 Live Performance Dean DeBenedictas has been making a big impression in the IDM community as of late. This show marks the three-year point for Space Disco For Fish Tacos. Wednesday, October 7, 1998 8-10pm: Mike Fix Live Performance No one creates music like Mike Fix. When he's not busy putting together Fix magazine, he creates a brand of trance that no one has attempted before. Instead of the sterile production and subtle changes that make up most trance, Mike blasts low fidelity noise all over pounding basslines and thundering beats. But just as he's beaten the sonic pulp out of you, his music opens up to beautiful melodies, causing the listener to sigh in relief just before he slams you again. Mike Fix has a release on Hook recordings called "Steeldrum." He also donated the track "Daylight" to Loraine, the 2xCD KUCI benefit compilation. Wednesday, October 14, 1998 8-10pm: Shad T. Scott Performs Live He's opening for DJ Poopy at the Viper room, but besides that and his rare live appearance alongside local hero Lexaunculpt at the Loraine release party, Shad T. Scott doesn't play out much. When he's not working on top 40 pop hits, Shad runs Isophlux. The label serves to release his own music as well as that of James Bernard and Lexaunculpt. Most of his material makes its way to Europe, leaving the domestic releases strictly to hardcore train spotters. In addition to his Isophlux material, Shad donated the track "Traken Back" to Loraine, the 2xCD KUCI benefit compilation. Tune in every Wednesday evening from 8-10pm on KUCI 88.9fm, broadcasting at 200 watts to the greater Orange County area. Chain reaction was dope last night. If you missed them, you can at least catch pole on tonights radio/net broadcast. Wednesday November 11th 8-10pm - Pole Live! Chain Reaction's subdued dubster fucks it up tonight. I'm still reeling from last night's public space performance at the El Ray. I can't really explain Pole, except to say that it's mellow, dubby, spacey, and yet just as modern sounding as something autecre or the schematic guys could come up with. It kind of reminded me of a modern take on the Sabres of Paradise album "Haunted Dancehall". A million thanks to Christopher Robin and Allen from Plug Research for setting this one up! Wednesday November 18th 8-10pm - Twenty Twelve Live!/Barry Ashworth DJ! Twenty Twelve is Nick Rappatoni's breaks project. He has two singles out so far, one self-released and one on DUV records. Unlike many breaks producers nowadays, Nick comes from a rich funk and jazz background and performs live. for more info, visit www.twentytwelve.com. Nick will play live from 9-10pm. Barry Ashworth is the mastermind behind the Dub Pistols. His debut album, Boint blank, just went to #1 in the UK but he's still representin' in Southern California's underground. The album is a thick, swirling dub take on today's breaks scene, and I've heard rave reviews about his DJ sets. Barry will DJ from 8-9pm. Wednesday, December 2nd, 8-10pm, - Phone Performs Live! Orange County's live electro-analog improvisational ambient quartet. They played a great set at Nightnoise last Sunday, and I just had to have them down. Wednesday December 9th, 8-10pm - THC (w/string Quartet) Performs Live! Live 6 peice trip-hop/drum n' bass. Singer, Keyboard guy, 2 Violinists, Viola PLayer, and Celloist. They're playing in france right now, and will be performing shortly after thier return. Coming Soon: Sterile - Orange County's intelligent electronic monthly. I really hate to be a "me too"er, but in this case I am. I love the Pole album, and there is no way Pole is comming to Denver... (I really need to get out of Colorado...). A CD-R would be appreciated, and I can probably work out a trade... --hh -/\= Hess M. Hodge ~/\ hess.hodge@colorado.edu (/\) http://rtt.colorado.edu/~hodge

Pole last week was great, and judging by all the requests for copies of that show, I think alot of people agree. Sterile 0001 will not be held this friday as previously rumored. What a week! Last week was a hectic show, Barry Ashworth from The Dub Pistols came down for a DJ set and interview, followed by 2012 performing live. (And I do mean live, those jazzy chops you heard were being played live on a vintage 70's electric piano.) I guess word of mouth about sterile got a little bit out of hand. We had originally planned to hold Sterile 0001 last friday, but pushed it back to December 18th because we want everything to be perfect. It turns out that 50 people showed up at the location expecting an event, despite the fact that neither the flyers nor website have a location or date on them. For more information on this highly anticipated monthly, see www.peachfuzz.net/sterile. I'll be spinning at Nightnoise for the last time this Sunday. Yes, Orange County's long running chill out weekly will be coming to an end soon. While they're gearing up for a big finale on December 20th featuring live performances by Lexaunculpt and Phone, Chowderhead and Mr. Lumpy are setting thier sites on future projects, perhaps a monthly. For more info, check out the Nightnoise website at www.peachfuzz.net/nightnoise. Last announcement, I swear! The Peach website has moved to www.peachfuzz.net/peach, and in it's place is the directory for peachfuzz.net, a web server hosted by peach. Included on the server are sites for: Peach (my homegrown label/design company) Emergence (and OC art collective) Lexaunculpt (coming soon) Nightnoise (OC's downtempo weekly) Southern California IDM Event Page (a listing of IDM related happenings) Space Disco For Fish Tacos (the radio show this list if for) Sterile (Orange County's Intelligent Electronic Monthly) Wednesday November 25th, 8-10pm - Alex from Bassland Performs Live! Bassland will be habing thier final perfromance January 30th, 1999 at Vibequest. While I'm one of thier many fans hoping they'll get back together, both Stuart and Alex will be keeping busy doing thier own solo projects. Both of these guys have an amazing amount of creative output, so Orange County will still be filled with great local music. Tune in and see what Alex turns out. Wednesday, December 2nd, 8-10pm, - Phone Performs Live! Orange County's live electro-analog improvisational ambient quartet. They played a great set at Nightnoise a couple weeks ago, so I invited them down. Wednesday December 9th, 8-10pm - THC (w/string Quartet) Performs Live! Live 6 peice trip-hop/drum n' bass. Wednesday, February 3rd, 8-10pm - Bassland Performs Live Bid farewell to one of Orange County's favorite acts. Considered to be the best kept secret of Orange County's explosive electronic music scene, Alex and Stuart have decided to persue musical projects seperately. The duo have performed on Space Disco For Fish Tacos about 15 times, so it's only fitting that thier last performance of all be on the program. Thier last public live performance as Bassland was Saturday at Vibequest, where they performed 2 sets, one dance set and one experimental set, which closed witth a new rendition of thier vocal track "This never Happened." Wednesday, February 10th, 8-10pm - George Sarah of THC Ambient Performance George Sarah has taken on many faces with THC, from trance to drum n' bass to vocal trip hop with a string quartet. In doing this, he seldom has a chance to perform his ambient material. Tune in for this rare set, including a special version of my favorite Cathexis track, Manatee. (Cathexis is George from THC and Dean From Surface 10). Wednesday February 17th, 8-10pm - L'usine Performs Live Radio virgin L'usine (pronounced lou-zine) performs live for the first time on Space Disco for Fish Tacos. His demo contains new IDM material that doesn't fall into the trap of copying well established artists. Tune in to check it out, besause this is an artist you'll probably be seeing around more often. Last week was a bittersweet farewell to Bassland. While it sucks to se them go, both Stuart and Alex will both continue making music so we won't really be deprived. In the meantime, I caught 'Jaded', a band featuring Tina Yothers (of Family Ties fame) on vocals at an awful pick-up bar in Newport Beach. I was laughing so hard I thought I was going to get my ass kicked by one of the many ex-marine types who were trying to pick up on one of the many drunken bimbos. Add a white-trash MGD to boot, and it was quite an evening. Wednesday, February 10th, 8-10pm - George Sarah of THC Ambient Performance George Sarah has taken on many faces with THC, from trance to drum n' bass to vocal trip hop with a string quartet. Wednesday, February 24th, 8-10pm - Lexaunculpt Performs Live Lexaunculpt, also known as Alex Graham, is a KUCI favorite. He's performed on Space Disco For Fish Tacos as Hazel Window, Your Choroid Coat and as Lexaunculpt. He's performed at two KUCI benefit shows and donated a track to Loraine, the KUCI benefit compilation. His first release, 'Oh, here's some noises' not only recieved heavy KUCI airplay, but it was voted IDM single of the year. Alex will perform live and discuss his new release on Orange, 'Double Density'. Space Disco For Fish Tacos has been on the air for three years, featuring weekly live performances and interviews by electronic musicians from southern California and abroad. KUCI Is a closed studio, which means we are not equipped to have an audience, so please don't ask to come down. -Daniel daniel@peachfuzz.net ============================================================================== Peach Space Disco For Fish Tacos PO Box 1902 8-10pm Wednesdays, KUCI 88.9fm Huntington Beach, CA 92647 www.peachfuzz.net/space www.peachfuzz.net ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sterile: Orange County's Intelligent Electronic Monthly www.peachfuzz.net/sterile ============================================================================== "A lot of people just talk out of their ass, I happen to fall under that category" -Dana Watanabe

Upcoming Guests: May 26th, 1999 Brad Lainer of Electric Company (Interview) Brad lainer kicks your punk-rock-style-techno-lovin' ass. He was in Medicine, played on some Savage Republic stuff, and now makes noisey-ass shit as Electric Company or as The Story Of Personal Electronics. Listen in as he plays new shit. June 2nd, 1999 De3 (Live) De3 is one half of the SF duo Polyrhythmic. Dan decided to give Southern California a try, and has since persued his solo career as De3. His music is intricate loop-based techno that build and decentigtrates as songs take thier form. His percussion is heavily processed and his melodic elemts are soft and foreboding, much like the material released on the Reflective label. His live set at O2 was like a Nerf Plug Research. He has a track on a 1997 Development Records EP and one a compilation titled "Live Trigger" Alongside OST, Rook Vallade and David Scott (his partner in Polyrhythmic). He also has a track alongside notables Jonah Sharp (Spacetime Continuum), Velocette, Single Cell Orchestra and Matmos for the Avant-Garde Fashion Magazine "Surface". (This is a really dope looking magazine, I picked it up because the logo looks alot like Sterile's, and the photography is really interesting). -Daniel daniel@peachfuzz.net ============================================================================== Peach Space Disco For Fish Tacos PO Box 1902 8-10pm Wednesdays, KUCI 88.9fm Huntington Beach, CA 92647 (new web site!) www.peachfuzz.net www.peachfuzz.net/space ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sterile: returning soon: www.peachfuzz.net/sterile ============================================================================== "Trying is just the first step towards failure" - Homer Simpson
