This the the information my mom sent me about an incredible sounding new music festival on WKCR, 89.9 Columbia university radio. Does anyone have a way to record segments of this for me? I'd make it worth your while. Or, is there a way to encode it into MP3? 72 hours staight of the history of experimental electronics... I wish I were home to listen. Why the hell doesn't KCR broadcast on the web? Sam

This is the info that I have on it so far. The culminating live Networking Project is (very) tentatively set to feature Pita, Fennesz, Farmers Manual, Scanner, Disk, Sister Divine, Dean Roberts and others. They will all be collaborating via the internet, facilitated by http://www.fakeshop.com . Keep in mind that such a set up really binds no one to showing up, so any of them may flake out and not log on. Fakeshop should have realaudio of the Networking Project, but, yeah, WKCR laments their lack of realaudio and won't be able to rectify it before this "festival." I'm posting the schedule below. I have no idea what each slot will play other than the names. I'm including the DJs' names, but this is probably only relevant if you were at Columbia within the past few years and happen to know them. Any questions can be sent to wkcrnewmusic@columbia.edu or to me and I can call the appropriate answerers and get back to you. The latter is probably faster than the former. I've gotten some more info on this. The "Live Electronics" (by Susie Jae who's an awesome person and is doing all the work for this because of and in spite of flaky student DJs) and "Electronic Classical" (by Kenneth Tennis, not his real name) shows on Wednesday have switched places. The schedule below has been changed to reflect this. The live guest Tuesday night will be Heimo Lattner. The live guest Wednesday night will be two guys from Byzar not being Byzar. The live guest Thursday afternoon will be Kahn. Brandon Labelle, of Id Battery, and Michael Schumacher, of Studio 5 Beekman will be doing sound installations (separately) that will be broadcast at yet to be determined times during the festival.
