a few new items of relevence to those who may care (plus a ? at the end) -- Jim O'Rourke's new Moikai label seems to be shaping up nicely, and it's surprisingly much more idm-ish than one would expect. The first two releases are available this week. M1 is a re-press of Nuno Canavarrow's "Plux Quba" LP, which was originally released in 1988 on Portugeese label, AMA ROMANTA. Apparantly it has had a big influence on the A-Musik peeps, and is in a similar odd vein (i'll try and post a full review later). M2 is the US CD version of Lithops' "UmiUnit", originally released earlier this year on Sonig. Lithops is the first solo album from Jan Werner (1/2 of mouse on mars) and was talked here to death when the LP. Those of you who've been holding out for a domestic, or those who don't have vinyl use- now's your chance. Also planned on Moikai is a re-press of long out of print (and long sought after, in my case), Mego004, which is Christian Fennez's "Insturment" LP. -- Those of you who are on the Mego mailing list were quite happy to see the first update in a while, those of you who wern't, here's a quick list of what you can expect for the future-- Mego forthcoming releases: MEGO 020 Fennesz "Plays" 7" cover versions of "Paint It Black" by Rolling Stones and "Don't Talk" by the Beach Boys MEGO 025 Fuckhead "The Male Comedy" CD scheduled for September release MEGO 012 Haswell CD MEGO 018 EVOL CD MEGO 019 Goem 12" MEGO 020 Pure Mini-CD MEGO 028 Nachstrom 12" MEGO 007 Pita: Seven Tons For Free will be rereleased on CD by Digital Narcis of Osaka in the near future MEGO 004 Fennesz: Instrument will be re-released (with addtl mixes) on Jim O'Rourke's label, Moikai MEGO 008 Farmers Manual: No Back Up could be re-leleased on a japanese CD ROM label in the near future. plus- Pita CDs for Fire Inc. and Alku Fennesz CD on Touch Rehberg/Bauer CD on Touch and a Fennesz/O'Rourke/Rehberg collab. -- surprisingly, not yet mentioned here (nor any of my online ordering sources)- A new Disc (lesser/matmos/kid606) CD is out now on Vinyl Comm, titled 'GaijinCD4'. -- and now the question.. does anyone (lance?) have a gefriem discography? I know only of the Don't Dolby and Slow CDs but DD (the most recent) is cat006... so what's in the middle? anyone have e-mail/web reference? 00 ml/vn// http://members.xoom.com/multsanta/ [musik aus strom//u-ziq//karaoke kalk//etc.]

I just got the two new Moikai titles and really love them. I'm very excited about this label. It's shaping up to be the Mego of the US.

I've only heard one other Gefriem releases: Master's Cosmic Music/Schlammpeitziger: Let The Star Shine In split LP (gefriem 02) I remember that it's more of a spacerock type sound somewhat like hawkwind. so, obviously, i passed on it when i heard it. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

I have to really disagree with this opinion. I think this record is incredible Their two albums on a-musik pale in comparison with this one. I wouldn't think of hawkwind at all, maybe harmonia, neu or cluster releasing something on chain reaction 25-30 years ago. Lance, you should really give this one another chance. david *+* on now rowenta/khan lp .................................................................. . record sale page: techno, industrial, indie, ambient, avant . . cd sale page metabolist . . http://home.connectnet.com/lotus/ . ..................................................................
