Dear fellow music junkies, I've been staying with my brother for the past month in Miami and listening to him spin. He's been playing a lot of midtempo breakbeats with strong instrumental hip hop roots. Our musical tastes tend to overlap in a lot of areas. He has a track called "Pool" by Essa 3. I think it's relatively old, but I have to say I'm hooked. I think that kind of sound would work well in my set as well. Can anybody point me in the direction of some of the better ambient breakbeat out there now. I have a lot of atmospheric dnb, I'm not looking for more of that. I guess I want it in the 90-110 bpm range. I'd like to give my midtempo set a lot more ambient. On a similar note, there is a beatless ambient track on one of those Instinct comps with just NYC ambience (talking, footsteps, subway noises, etc...). Does anybody know the name of it? Is it still available on vinyl? I think it's ambient in its purest form in that it totally creates its own atmosphere.
