MOUSE ON MARS - AUTODITACKER on the other hand, i picked this up thinking "yet another mouse on mars record", fully expecting it to sound like the others, which is good and all, but after two albums and a bunch of singles was getting a little familiar. well, i was dead wrong. this DOES have the trademark MoM sound, but once again they have gone off at tangents and created some incredibly original and mind bending music. there's house, jungle, even krautrock grooves, all filtered through the unique MoM sensibility. i LOVE it. i think this is perhaps a bit more accessible than their earlier records, certainly moreso than the last one. if you haven't liked MoM in the past, check this out. i really think they could get some converts with this one. it's just plain FUN. also if anyone has been sleeping on Cibo Matto, get with the program. i can't believe i didn't buy "Viva! La Woman" months ago. it's great. np: cibo matto. -- Jon Drukman jsd@gamespot.com SpotMedia Communications ...I was an infinitely hot and dense dot...

...I was an infinitely hot and dense dot... Yep, I felt this way too. The same tracks on Hidden Camera were the standouts on the LP. I played the LP for nico last week, who said he had a cdr of it months ago and went through the same exact thing as you and I. He was stoked to get the lp, smoked a few splifs, sat down to give it a listen, and was let down in the same exact way. My opinion is that it sounds like rupert did a bunch of tracks in the same style as the HC ep, as a follow up and tried to pass it off as a LP. It's not bad, by any stretch of the imagination. Just a really good background listening kind of album, but really doesn't grab you by the nuts liked some of his other stuff, like K.J.Z, The Hidden Camera and some of his other stuff. I still can't say that I've heard a Photek record that I thought was bad. Take that for what it's worth... peace, brock. np: SAW I for some guy who passed out on my couch
