Are there any reviews from the shows that have already happened? i think the NYC, providence & amherst shows have already happened. any comments on what to expect? Looking fwd to seeing the tour here in cleveland tonight (friday). If anybody else is coming to the cleveland show or needs info on the cleveland show feel free to email me privately. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I caught the amherst show last night. Definately, a show to check out if the tour is coming to your town. Stewart Walker really knows how to rock the house....he did a set of seemless four on the floor techno. The only bad thing about the show was that Kit Clayton's laptop crashed after he spent 15 minutes building up a dub groove.....that and only about 30 people showed up :( Rob component records http://www.mindstorm.com/component ----- Original Message ----- From: Lance @ Inaudible <lance@inaudible.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Thursday, March 09, 2000 11:56 PM Subject: (idm) Any reviews on the Dropbeat shows???

I was at the Providence show on Wednesday, and was really impressed. I only caught the tail-end of Chessie's set, but I liked the last two things I heard quite a lot. Stewart Walker played a great set of driving techno (although few in the audience, Kit Clayton excluded, moved a muscle). The highlight of the evening, however, was Kit Clayton's set, during which he created some really astounding dub soundscapes, which seemed to emerge out of a kind of chaotic fog. (Not a great description, but I haven't had my coffee yet) In any event, definitely a show worth seeing, if it comes your way. Susanna ----------

I can only agree. The show in New York was fantastic. Kit Clayton played a really engaging set that would follow one idea for a few minutes, then pick up a new idea suggested by the current one. His set gradually changed "tracks" probably every two minutes and genres about every fifteen. Like I said, it was very engaging. This is despite the fact he left his laptop in a cab and had to download a backup of all his sounds and pluggo stuff and whatnot. Chessie is touring as a four-piece, which is Stephen plus three, uh, "session" guys. Stephen plays lead guitar. All of the songs are good, the one from the forthcoming Plug Research record was a standout. Chessie did drop his guitar pick a few times, as well as have trouble with bad connections with his effects pedals. But this happened at both the Other Music in-store and the tour show, so maybe it's part of the act... Stewart closed in New York, and as Rob said, he rocked the house. He played a two hour set of absolutely fantastic, really, really superb techno. He got most of the too-hip stiffs in New York moving which is no easy feat. So be ready to dance. And even if no one else is, dance anyway. You'll feel better about yourself in the morning ;-) Again, it was great. Don't miss it. --Danny

As for thirty people showing up, that's about three times what I'd expect for this town (which, just so everyone knows, probably has one of my least favorite techno stores on Earth in it).
