These labels are confusing, but if you mean melodic jungle/d'n'b with a hard danceable edge then I recommend: Decoder - Circuit Breaker/Life (Technical Itch) Not all the Decoder stuff is as melodic as this, but it's all usually of a very high standard. This 12" is over 6 months old now, but it's well worth tracking down. Boymerang's stuff also springs to mind - not too jazzy, but fit well in both listening and dancing categories. Bill Riley's first 2 12"'s 'In At The Deep End' and 'Landscape' are both hypnotic rolling pieces of vinyl. Music Box, the Full Cycle compilation could also be called jazzy in its own distinctive way, and is better than the New Forms LP. Peshay's new stuff is also on this kind of tip. Check out his remix of Jaydee's 'Plastic Dreams' on R&S (anyone know whether this is available on vinyl, BTW?) and his forthcoming 12" (dunno what it'll be called yet) and anything on his Elements label (there's only a Decoder 12" out at the moment, but more is on it's way). Earlier Jonny L releases (the 2 of Us and This Time EP's in particular), early Spring Heel Jack (the 'There Are Strings' LP), early Omni Trio (the Vol 5 12" or Deepest Cut LP), or the Jacob's Optical Stairway album may also be your cup of tea. Try before you buy, in case I have mis-appropriated your musical taste... Gb. np: Smokey Robinsion & The Miracles - Tears of a Clown

Not too early Jonny L -- you'll get "Hurt U So" or "Ooh I Like It", which despite being insanely great seem to draw a barrage of criticism on this list.

All of this stuff is great, though (haven't heard _There Are Strings_), and I'd recommend any and all music by these artists. So, if you're just looking for jazzstep, go with his recommendations. If you're looking for good jungle, get everything these artists have put out. :) I don't know much about jazz, and I would say Photek's "Hidden Camera" and a lot of Squarepusher strikes me as jazzy, but I'm sure you've already got that stuff. :)

This from the latest listing from http://www.juno.co.uk JAYDEE: Plastic Dreams (Rainforest, Funky Green Dub mixes) (R&S import 12": RS 97002 [5.55]) Arabesque But not the Peshay mix I suppose. I'm sure the commercial release (RS 97117)was on 12", but maybe it didn't have Peshay's mix on either. jon - Jon Green zcapn33@ucl.ac.uk "Keep hens from fencing with hen fencing from Roberts' Hen Fencing"
