This seems to be part of the evils of the rock arena that are worming their way into the scene. I was at a few of the Electric Highway dates (lugging equipment for Uberzone) and the sound and light guys definitely held back on the volume and lights until the Crystal Method went on. Another fun fact is that CM have Nine Inch Nails' tour manager with them (oh god I just brought Trent into it). The highlight of their set was watching him run out and place the keyboards back on the stands that Ken or Scott had knocked over. Very rock. There's been a definite change for the worse in shows I've been to ever since electronica was declared the next big thing. The crowds aren't about the music and having a good time, they just stand around until the headliner plays and then go home. Can't wait til this all blows over. And given that Prodigy and ChemBros lost out to the Spice Girls on the MTV Awards last night, maybe it will be over soon. pdm
