Talk about breakin' out in a rash of dumbbutt! Here I am enjoying my new
turntable cartridge, diggin' thru the crates, lookin' for vinyl I haven't
listened to in awhile. Came across "The Beast - Remix" (MoWax, 1994), which
I bought 2 1/2, 3 years ago, for the Autechre remix. I thought the Ae mix
was just ok, but I was really enamored with the "System Mix" by Roni Size.
It was my first intro to jungle/d&b (and a good one, I might add), but I put
it on tape and forgot about the A side...
Looked closer today - AI - remixed by Chameleon, AII - remixed by Global
Communications. Damn! I slapped it on the decks real fast.
The Chameleon mix is an uptempo drumNbass number with very nice synth work
over a bed of mellow Rhodes chords.
The GlobComm mix is a downtempo triphop mix with synth pads, the same mellow
chords and a not-quite-as-smooth-as-it-could-be groove.
Not their greatest, but a must-buy for a true fan.
A buddy picked up a Chaos & Julia Set Vol.2 (Recoil) w/ "Fear The Future &
Natural High". Natural High is also on Jungle Techno 4, but there are two
mixes of Fear The Future which are pretty obscure. The long mix is excellent.
Neither of these are mentioned on the GlobComm website. There are other
lapses in their "discography" that I could mention, but I won't.. I did
some pretty exhaustive searching for a real discography, and turned up
nothing...
What am I getting at? Surely, Mssrs. Pritchard & Middleton deserve a REAL
discography, don't they? I daresay they are more deserving of trainspotting
than most of the expert knob wankers who are worshipped here. How 'bout it?
Any volunteers? I can contribute, I just don't have time to put it all
together...
Anybody got the new Chaos & Julia Set? Is there a C&JS Vol.1, or is the
Vol.2 a scam like AutoReload Vol.2? Any other Chameleon tracks?
