so i'm over at the source records website peeping info on this new pita & general magic ep/lp thing i got yesterday--_live and final fridge_--and i stumble on to the website of a related label...mego. anyone know anything about mego? looks like they've got quite a few releases out, both full-length and 12-inch, including one by gerard potuznik of cheap fame. so what's the scoop on mego? anyone track down any of their stuff? reviews encouraged... sc

i've listened a bit to mego 009, pita: seven tons for free. 7 cuts, 31 minutes. pretty much looped pulse, tone, static, & bleep. quite reminiscent of the work of oval as documented via systemisch and 94diskont, but i'd say that pita's textures are a bit more noisy and cold, less dense and 'musical' sounding. very nice if you like that sort of thing. i do. mike "...drifting in the vague, associative, oceanic way that the mind does when it sloshes off beyond language..."

Check out the Farmers Manual 12" (Mego 017). Really dark breaks and ambient stuff. There's also one 4x4 track if I recall. Fans of Jega and Gescom will definately like this record! Apparently, Farmers Manual has a new release (possibly a full-length) out or soon to be out on a different label. Anybody got the scoop on this? \|/ @--out----------*--+what-I-got-in-my-head-you-can't-buy-steal-or-borrow /|\ --Paul p. "To find your mind, you have to lose it first"
