Sorry for this crosspost, but just thought I`d tell you all about this event last night. The music was more applicable to IDM but I know Uwe Schmidt has done some very ambient stuff before so I thought you might be interested. I have to say I didn`t really know what to expect as the only thing I actually have of Atom Heart`s is the remix he did for Prong. The night was billed as Atom Heart vs (something in German I can`t remember right now). What it consisted of three of them, two Germans and a Chilean, improvising on a box of tricks and trying to synch it with what the other two were doing. This is the sort of thing that would work well if everyone concerned knew the others very, very well. Unfortunately, this didn`t seem to be the case, so there were many instances where things felt a bit disjointed. There were moments of brillance as well to make up for it though. I`m not very good at describing this sort of music but I`ll give it a go. It was animated enough to get people moving but no one was in danger of breaking a sweat. I would say that the music was like a trancey (does this word exist?) version of the Artificial Intelligence comps. I hope this makes some sort of sense to someone. It was, unfortunately, a little difficult to tell exactly who was doing what so I couldn`t say who was leading and who was following. I don`t know if it was recorded. I didn`t see a DAT machine, but then I don`t really know what they look like. I wouldn`t be suprised if it doesn`t get released as a live thing due to the disjointed bits. They might just take out the brilliant bits and use them. Sorry for the long cross post. Tim
