These are the few tracks that have really driven me mad during the last four years, in chronological order: The KLF: "What time is love? (Live at Trancentral)" 1992 At this time I wanted to save my ears so I chose one track a year that I would play really loud, and this was the one of 1992. Moby: "All that I need is to be loved" (from "Move" EP) 1993 Said to be the best techno EP ever. I agree. Voodoo child: "Demons" (NovaMute -- e-mail mutebank@mutelibtech.com) 1995 16 minutes of build-up, then a climax. AFX: "Laughable butane Bob" (from "Hangable auto bulb" EP) 1995 The song that opened my ears for drum'n'bass. Karl Axel-Bissler: "The gateway" (NovaMute -- see above) 1995 At one place you think the music has ended and then it comes back, blowing you away. Acrid abeyance: "Exposure trax" 1995 They show it on MTV Europe all the time but I have never spotted a copy. It has the best well-known techno build-up that I have heard. Planet gong: "Handmade material" (from "Mode 326" EP) 1996 I finally found this on yellow vinyl in an obscure record shop in London after having searched for it a year. Don't know what to say about it -- excellent techno. Cosmic baby: "Loops of infinity" (from "Thinking about myself") 1996 Cosmic baby's piano-trance at the best. Dark side of the Moog: "Phantom heart brother part IV" (from DSOTM III) 1996 The climax of a very structured album. AFX: ".942937" (from "Analogue bubblebath 3") 1996 The repetitive videogame gun sound cuts like a knife in your ears. Turn up the treble for better effect.
