I believe this subject came up a while ago: Francis Naughton, Mike
Paradinas's original partner in u-ziq. Does anyone know what sort of
stuff this guy is doing at the moment? The reason I ask is that he's
supposed to be playing here in Cardiff on Thursday 2nd (tomorrow), at a
new club night called Hardlife ('techno with no frontiers'). The posters
and flyers have him down as doing a live PA. Anyone heard his stuff?
Ian Pooley's 'The Times': I borrowed a mate's vinyl copy, it has 12
tracks. I taped about half of them, it didn't really blow me away.
'Plunk n Bang' and 'Plunk n Klang' are great fun for mixing with, and
there are quite a few good dancefloor-oriented cuts, but in general it
wasn't particularly interesting...
Some proper reviews to come soon, but for now: The Herbert collection
('100 lbs' on Phono) is now out - if you missed the EPs and have any
kind of liking for deep house you cannot afford to miss this. RAC's
'Structures' and the Jedi Knights EP are both pretty wicked...
see ya
