Great you should mention this! A pet project of mine since, oh, about the time I was turned on to jungle has been writing jungle-inflected sheet music for marching band percussion sections. If you've listened to field shows at all, I think you can see the fucking hardcore cross-pollination that's just waiting to happen there. Cracking snares, five or so differently-tuned bassdrums...some sections even have synths on the sidelines! If anyone is similarly inspired or has any info on adventurous bands, corps, or publishers, gimme an email.. eric

I believe there are actually a couple of junglists up in the Chicago area mixing brazillian (batucada-style rhythm sections) and african rhythms in with their sets. If they decide to put out a mixtape I'll let y'all know. I would love to hear some tama (senegalese talking drum) on a d&b release myself, that would be the dopest shit... GD
