I want to look/touch/feel/play with this unit before laying down the big $$$. THe problem is that absolutely nobody in the Bay Area has a clue about this unit. The pro audio stores that I called snickered and said crap like "we do not stock karaoke equipment" or "we're purveyors of only the finest in digital audio equipment", etc. DJ/Music stores didn't have a clue, or at best stocked the Denon or the NuMark. So anybody know where one of these beasts lives or is sold so I can check it out?? Seems like Pioneer is doing a great job in trying to not sell these units.... I did manage to find one source that could mail order these units (with an additional 2 week delay for special ordering): J&R Music/Computer World, NYC (1-800-221-8080) CDJ-500 mk II -- $599.95 ea. (need 2 of these CD player units) DJM-500 -- $799.00 ea. (need 1 of these master controllers) they also mentioned S-500 -- $2299.95 (2 CD player, controller, mixer (?), & case) Shipping is 3%, Non NY residents need not pay sales tax. Are these good prices? Any suggestions on other places to look for mail order, as well as any Bay Area locations that has this unit on display?? PS: what do people think of the S-500. Is the mixer and case worth the additional money? PPS: where on earth can i get more information on these units. The folks at Pioneer Amerikkka didn't even know they produced that kind of unit.... PPPS: anybody know if these have a digital out? how about remote control? (i now have the additional need of replacing my stereo's CD player since it just conked out and isn't worth the $139.00 fixing fee Sony is charging... PPPPS: please make $$$-offers or tech suggestions on fixing/recycling the following pieces of semi-functional audio equipment: * Technics SL-1100A turntable (that's right, an old 1100, not the 1200 ... works ok, tonearm gimble was abused) * AIWA ADF-800 3 head tape deck (1 channel of output is silent). * Sony CDP-75 ES 5 CD changer. (goes crazy after playing a CD for 30 minutes). =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= == Niels Mayer -- http://www.eit.com/~mayer -- mayer@netcom.com == =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
