I just got a copy of Goldie's Timeless CD from Polygram Canada... and was quite disappointed to hear just how minimal and poppy the album was. I saw a brilliant documentary while on British Television last year called "Death by Bass"... they had a brief interview with Goldie with some of the darkest, loudest... and bassiest jungle I've ever heard. Unfortunately, the disc that was sent to me was the single CD version.... and I'm left asking, just what am I missing on the second disc? Is that some of his earlier, Terminator style jungle? There are some amazing moments on Timeless... but I have to keep my finger on the Fast Forward button to escape all the vocals. Goldie - pioneer of bump'n grind ambient jungle house :) Could somebody also tell me more about this Omni Trio disc on sm:)e? ____ __,---' `--.__ ,-' ; `. I remember I posted a reply to the same question a while ago and telling the guy to go get it. But I see you got something against vocals so I will not reccomend it... Althought I think it is the best Jungle album of the year and a few friends of mine who had something against vocals in techno and even against jungle in general liked this album very much. Hospital clean jungle from a guy who once worked with Nurse with wound. snow

I think what the problem with this CD is that the vocals tend to take dispell the lush electronic feeling of the music. Drum'n Bass is a very inorganic, and extremely powerful medium in techno, and the vocal completely difuse the hook of the piece. Many of the elements in the track, "Timeless" are absolutely breathtaking, but the vocals just stamp out the overall effect. It leaves me asking, just what his previous efforts were like? Are the terminator-esqe tracks available on the double CD? I've only got the single CD white edition. ____ __,---' `--.__ ,-' ; `.
