Hello this is my first post to the list, after a long time lurking. Regarding this Aphex song name business: In Select (i think) a few years ago, a sidebar article on the twin quoted him as saying that all his songs with the "ph" (see above post item #1) were named so due to the "ph" factor in all his work...that is the acid factor in them. A young, silly, aphex. On another note, I never saw much discussion of the now old Elecktroids lp. What do people think of this. Personally I think it is a little to blatently retro. Songs intended to sound like Kraftwerk, one song blatently ripping off Clear, and another track that sounds exactly like a song I heard on a Future Music cd. While weak in the originality dept. and in the complexity dept. it is not a bad listen. I can really get into that Midnight Ride song. Sorry if I am wasting space with old stuff. I also would like to extend a warm thanks to those that suggested the jazz albums (Tone Dialing, and Red Hot on Impulse). I picked them up and they are truly great. What has Global Communication been up to? I don't know of anything that new from them, am I wrong? What is the deal with all those releases listed on the Evolution comp ? Have any of them been released? Are they going to be? I heard mentioned that Air Liquide has a few new albums out or coming out. Are there any reviews or impressions? How essential and rare are the plugs ? Should I go nuts to find one? Someone dropped Kid Spatula as being a must, what is the obtainability factor on this one? (in US) Are Tri Repete and Anvil Vapre out in the states yet? I have been burned too many times buying the import only to see the domestic a few weeks later. Then again, sometimes the release is delayed for months, like I think Amber was. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks... jon

How does one track rip off an entire label? and how isn't Clear blatantly retro? Wondering..

Theres an album of remixes thats supposed to be out called Remotion but it doesn't seem to be available. A new album is due in the new year.

Plugs aren't too hard to find, though Plug2 certainly seems a little more difficult. There will be a domestic CD compilation of them however. Kid Spatula shouldn't be too hard either, though the vinyl is a limited edition of sorts.

No. But when Tri Repetae does go domestic, it will come with Anvil Vapre as a bonus. Early next year I believe.. :: Alan M. Parry :: fluid@hyperreal.com :: <finger me for PGP key> :: http://hyperreal.com/~fluid

Sorry I wasn't very...well...clear. I meant the song/album Clear not the label Clear. Song/album of course by Cybotron. jon

Clear as in the track perhaps...not the label. Teep

Warp's tuffest release for a while.

Rip off or tribute? Methink's tribute. It's no where near as good as _Computer World_ Nothing is. But it has some near, near thing moments and this is high praise indeed. For your free autographed picture of the Elektroids... http://www.inta.net/~g303/warp/

Alan suggeste that Remotion is not out yet or something. Ermm, well there seems to be plenty knocking about here :)

_Abuse Your Illusions Part 1.1_ and _Abuse Your Illusions Part 1.2_ have been out for a few months, both 2x12", new tracks and remixes as far as I can tell. Lot's of really nice acid and beats. Air Liquide were introduced to me at the Tribal Gathering, I've finally got round to buying their records, and am well impressed.

Totally essential. And I don't knowe about the US where they seem to give them away free in cereal packets but they are (where?) fucking difficult to find in the UK. I may retract that after I go to fat cat this afternoon.

The hand finished vinyl is supposed to be limited to something around the 500-1000 mark. g3 g The WARP Web Site 3 0 3 http://www.inta.net/~g303/warp/

Also out are 'RED' & 'BLACK' on sm;)e (u.s). Got the RED cd and I think it is one of the best acid albums of the year. Previous releases by Air Liquide were IMHO lacking in consistency throughout the album. This one has the quality of a complete work and not just a collection of tracks, a thing that most techno/IDM artists tend to leave out of their albums. snow
