It may have already been reviewed, but I don't remember reading about it. I'd like to ask how this compares to "Aquatic Invasion" which I think is just AWESOME!!! "Molecular Enhancement" was OK, but "AI" rawks d00d! :) So, is "The Journey Home" really electro'd out like the Clear label stuff? If it's anywhere close to the bad-ass Drexicya choons like "AI" then I'd like to get it. What are y'alls opinions of this Warp "electro" release? Thanks, -kc -- Riding Upon the Null Lines...

Drexciya's 12" on Warp is probably the most conspicuously different-sounding record, stylistically speaking, when compared to their other 12"s on Shockwave/UR/Submerge. It's nowhere near as raw-sounding as their domestic releases, and the accent isn't so much on dirty electro-funk, but rather on polished Detroit techno. That said, it still delves slightly into the brashness that the Drexciya boys are known for, but as it is on Warp, the overall feel is one of smoothness, not ruffness... :) - Matthew "I grew up thinking that techno music is actually something that you can't imagine. That is techno at its best. If you hear something that you'd never expect to hear - that's techno. If you hear something that kind of sounds like you've heard it before, then it's not techno." - Jeff Mills

I can hardly be said to have kept up with the current "electro" trends, but I do have _The Journey Home_ on disc and like it quite a lot. It's not what I'd call electro (ie. like Kraftwerk, or Zapp!, or synth-pop or something), but is rather eccentric detroit techno. I've been under the impression that this is the only Drexciya on CD -- is this true? I'd love to hear more, but I don't do the vinyl record thing anymore.... It's by far the best form of
reproduction. If you did you could listen to Underwater which I think is the best Drexciya track to date!! Adioski luke@dingding.demon.co.uk --
