I bought a brand-new cartridge (Ortofon TM14U) for my turntable, to replace my old Audiotecnica. Now the needle wants to slide across the record, no matter how I set the tracking or counterbalance. This is especially true of my favorite discs, unfortunately. Am I missing some sort of adjustment, or have I basically ruined my vinyl? They sound fine when the needle doesn't slide (no unexpected popping or other signs of a blown-out disc,) so I'm hoping somebody can let me in on some turntable secret I'm unaware of. Thanks! -Phil
