According to the Jedi issue of "Art of Star Wars" the costumes were designed by Aggie Guerard Rodgers and Nil Rodis Jamero. Are you absolutely sure about this? Are you pulling our legs? Steve

Boy, 'Makesaracket' really gets people going. One thing I must say again -- anything that people either love or hate intensely must be very intensely whatever it is. With the Slazenger disk -- think the music from "Peanuts" cartoons played by mental patients, think Esquivel through a fuzzbox. If that doesn't pitch your tent, peace be witcha ... but if you like your cheeze whiz with a little salsa, this is the disk for you. [By the way, speaking of Peanuts, an early Brush With Fame was my parents having Vince Guaraldi over for dinner and playing with the cat under the Steinway while he jammed along with Getz/Gilberto ...] -- "This unit might get hot while operating, but there is nothing to worry about it." -- Chapter 1, Verse 10, the book of MKS30. -- kent.williams@cadsi.com [Kent Williams/CADSI/2651 Crosspark Rd/Coralville IA 52241/(319)626-6700]

In response to the positive review for the new Jake Slazenger LP on clear records, I went and bought a copy. My general impressions are good, maybe not quite as enthousiastic as the last reviewer, as there's no doubting that this is Mike Paradinas at the controls. Behind the general funkiness and wicked beats, lies the traditional noisy, and aggressive electro. Most of the time this is not a problem, as I really like it when it works.... but on a few tracks this noisy collage of sampling and cheese just doesn't do it for me. Fortunately, there are enough tracks here to satisfy the inner man... (take for example, track 5, Daytime Kiss.... an excellent example of original breakbeats harmonizing with beautiful synth... a golden moment) but I can't say this is a total winner.... Tango'n Vectif will always be my favorite. ------------ Overall 9/10 You'll either like it, or like it a lot. You won't hate it. ------------ Blister Level 7/10 (Not quite hardbag in-your-brain techno, but does have the occational fast-as-fuck adrenalin rush track that'll soak your shirt, and turn your feet to chopped liver) Welp, just have to wait for the new ?-Ziq disc... Salsa ____ (!) Forget..

oh yeah? well i've listened to it twice at a store. once when it first came out and once after everyone raved about it. i still fail to see why everyone raves about this. mind you i only got to listen to it over headphones in a dj shop and didn't listen to tracks in their entirety. but nothing that i heard motivated me to leave the needle on very long, much less actually pay $ for it. i'd give it a 1/10
