I can't believe people are dissing this like it's shit or something!
I mean, come on. I bet the fans are the silent majority here.
It's great! This is a high-grade collection/overview... like it's title
implies. And admittedly I'm cautious when buying WARP stuff,
being steeped in my admiration for the Detroit and Midwest US
indie techno labels. [was that a plug?] But I really do like Evolution.
There is one lemon that I can think of offhand, but all the tracks
on side A are wonderfuly mixable and work well into a smooth or
even trancey techno set. But they're comparably short so get in
and out of them quick. Old if they may be, like most of their work,
it's *FUN*! Sorry for being so positive.... I'm a skeptic too...
also, cool that they give Carl Craig so much respect in the
notes! Sounds like he really inspired them (and prob. countless others).
peace.
on now: TRESOR vol.3. Believe the Hype. Jeff Mills, Rob Hood, Maurizio,
Dan Bell, Joey Beltram, what more could you ask for? THis CD is the next
best thing to owning the 12"'s.
