Two recent purchases (FSOL vs. Shamen & Dreamfish-thanks Don!) have Terrence McKenna's voice babbling over what would otherwise be perfectly good music. I don't understand why artists would ruin their work with his smarmy voice (sorry Negativeland, but Casey Kasem would be a significant improvement over Terrence). I can think of many people who would sound much better and would have many more interesting things to say (Laurie Anderson, William Boroughs, Gil Scott Heron...). I don't get it. Why do so many idm artists use his voice? Or am I the only one that finds him completely annoying? I'd rather have loads of samples or bleeps ala early Orb or FSOL than TM.

Terrence McKenna is very amusing I think, if you aren't really annoyed by his voice then he is a riot. Though it's a novelty track kind of thing, not the sort of stuff I want to listen to all the time. [fletcher]
