Hi- I dunno if anyone on the list has talked about Dome before, but anyway... does anyone have any information on this group? They did stuff in the early 80's... I just got a little listen to some of it last night, and it souds to me like they were about 10 years ahead of their time Tom Tom Butcher [tb303+@cmu.edu] Orbitrecords [412.681.4112] OR-online :: http://www.hyperreal.com/music/labels/orbitrecords/

As somebody wrote in a previous message, they were. Not all their releases might have been considered experimental but some are. Some stuff was more popy but always with an experimental attitude As I have no work to do tonight, here follows a maybe not complete discographt but...it's quite closed DOME: Dome 1-Dome Records -1980 Dome 2-Dome Records-1980 Dome 3-Dome Records-1981 D4-Uniton Records-1982 DOME as BC.Gilbert-G.Lewis-"3R4"-4AD-1980 Bc.Gilbert-G.Lewis-Russel Mills-MZU-"Waterloo Gallery"-Cherry Red Records-1982 CUPOL-"Like this for ages"-4AD-1980 more conventional but... DUET Emmo-"or So it seems"-Mute-1982-12" Duet Emmo (Gilbert, Lewis, Daniel Miller)-"Duet Emmo"-Mute-1982 P'O-"Climbing Thieves vie for attention"-Court Records-1983 HE SAID-"only one I"-Mute-12"-1985 HE SAID-"Hail"-Mute Records-1986 He SAID-"Take Care"-Mute Records-1988 Also The Bruce Gilbert LPs and Cds (The Shivering, This Way, Music For Fruit, Insiding....) and on DOME REcords: Desmond Simmons-"Alone on penguin Island"-produced by dome-Dome records-1981 and for sure some others...that you will let me know.... Hope it can help in some ways.... ********************************************************************** Eric "Aleph6" Neurom-X Interactive Communication *********************************************************************

Dome were totally ahead of their time, I agree. It's a Wire side-project (I think the people involved were Bruce Gilbert and Graham Lewis). Various people made contributions to their albums, including Mr. DM/Erasure Vince Clarke. Bruce Gilbert has also released several excellent solo albums that are all ambient in varying degrees.
