To: idm@HYPERREAL.COM A lot of post have appeared recently about the Dust Bros requesting info so here's what I know: First off they have been heavily associated with the Beastie Boys producing and cowriting stuff on their Capitol releases They've also produced and mixed some soul 45s on colored vinyl that were total cool cool ear;y seventies late sixties sounding. The label escapes me I think it was something like Soul Slinger but don't hold me to that. As some one else mentioned the Prodigy and St. Ettiene mixes I have seen three EPs on Junior Boys Own. There was an early one the name of which escapes me. I have "14th Century Sky" 4track 12" and "MercuryMouth" 3 track 12" both are totally smooth. If you see them-BUY THEM. They also have a track on the Junior Boys Own Compilation "Collect Junior Boys Own" a worthy comp but not necessarily IDM. In fact the DBs are more trip hop/dub than IDM (IMHO), but I think they are soooo slick. I've heard hither and thither that they have an LP in the works but it could be rumor. If you see Junior Boys Own buy it its probably good. On a related tip, How about Haunted Dancehall by Sabres of Paradise. You are confusing the US Dust Brothers with the UK Dust Brothers. The Dust Brothers around which this discussion centers are not the same Dust Brothers who produced Paul's Boutique and sundry other hip-hop records. The UK Dust Brothers have only released the three EPs on JBO plus sundry remixes.

The Junior Boys Own compilation track is "Song to the Siren", available on the first Dust Bros. 12". Trainspotter Alert: The Fourteenth Century Sky EP is actually on Collect, a progressive imprint of Junior Boys' Own. More IDM-esque stuff can be found on said label.

Incredible record. Really sets Weatherall apart from most DJ/Producers (ie those that hire an engineer and go plink-plonk 'till they hear something they'd play). The first disc impresses me far more than the second, but it's all solid music. Pure listening enjoyment. Peace, Matt
