Not just vinyl, apparently... I just scored a CD copy. Listening to
it now (for the umpteenth time natch!) in fact. Needless to say that
it was MORE than worth the wait. Packaged in a slick black cardboard
thing that folds out to reveal a gorgeous Buggy G Riphead landscape
inside, and also a CD in one of those cardboard single pouches. Pop
it in and what do you find? Well, I think even those who did not like
LIFEFORMS will be swayed by ISDN. It has much more in the way of
rhythm and beats... Still totally bizarre, just a little more
groove-oriented. The Far Out Of Son Of Lung stuff is amazing tripped
out dub jazz insanity - a great new direction. The Amorphous
Androgynous "Study Of Six Guitars" track from the Virgin Brief History
Of Ambient series is included as well.
Basically, it's fantastic. As usual FSOL wield a sledgehammer and
destroy the barriers between techno, ambient, dub, jazz and classic
space music. Not only that but the tunes are catchy, effective and
moving. There's nothing else I can say that expresses even an
infinitesimal fraction of the magic. You must hear to believe.
