I have one Skylab thing, a 12" w/2 tracks, Seashell and Next. One track is dubby and the other track is well...dubby but with a fast little bit in the middle. Very chilled out. I've heard another 12" which was almost totally ambient with weird whooshing sounds and the like which didn't impress me quite as much... Now the question is: Skylab #1 costs mid $30 range and I was wondering which of the styles it leans towards. A general Howie B history or an album review would be welcome in response to this post... mukherjt@ee.mcgill.ca

Sorry, no LP review from me (I'd love to see one though, anyone?) Howie B in brief: engineer/producer/remixer that has worked with the likes of Neneh Cherry, Massive Attack, Tricky, Bjork. He's also a cohort of Nellee Hooper's. Hope this sheds some light. Scott

IMHO it's a really crap album. They're just trying too hard to be experimental and weird when it's obvious they have no talent for it. Buy the new Loop Guru album instead (called "The Third Chamber" or something like that). It's one of the trippiest albums I've ever heard in my life. No silly new age stuff, no experimenting with weird sounds. It's just the sound of people being high. Incredible. Of course, it's dead boring if you're sober (or don't have any imagination). - chris@minsk.docs.uu.se <http://www.update.uu.se/~chris/>
