First of all, just picked up the U.S. version of Orbital's Are We Here single. Much, much, much, much better than the UK version. The dance remix on the UK version was quite lame, and the other versions all sounded the same. BTW-I'm not hurling insults at the UK. After all, Orbital are brit brothers. Anyway, the Rabbit in the Moon remixes kick ass! This made me feel very nostalgic (thinking of Orbital 2). Sounds like the Orbital I like most, even if it is someone else's remix. I particularly like the use of speech as an instrument. Some other good examples of this are Perry & Rhodan's song on Rising High Trance Injection or Melt's Be Liquid on Technosonic 4. BTW-if anybody has Rabbit in the Moon's disc, is it really as wonderful and UP (dancy) as their remixes. Good dance music seems to be disappearing. And speaking of Technosonic (what a great transition, huh?), I just picked up Technosonic Volume 5. Two discs of pure and absolute digital wickedness! The songs are excellent, much more consistent than on TS4. Some of the songs sound a bit alike, but that's no big deal if they're all good, doncha think? I checked the liner notes and didn't recognize anyone on it. I'm glad instinct is still putting out some good dance music. I had bought Plug in & Turn On 2 and was a bit disappointed. The songs were all very good stuff, but most of the songs (except for maybe two of them) were all ambient. A big change from the first one, they should've warned buyers of that. I'm beginning to think Instinct is going to go all ambient. I hope not. I like ambient, but I like heavy trance much better. After awhile, too much ambient starts to sound all the same. And let's face it. It's not the kind of stuff you can play at a party, unless it's a slumber party (I crack myself up)! The best thing about Technosonic 5 is that I found it used for 10 bucks. I can't imagine the sap that bought it and thought it sucked. To each his own, I guess. Then again, I'm glad because I've gotten some AWESOME stuff used before. Technosonic 5 is also much more interesting than Secret Life of Trance 3, if people want comparisons. It's rather nice to hear some intelligent DANCE music again. It's starting to become quite rare, now that everyone's on the ambient bandwagon (Uh, that Aphex guy is really great, how's his twin brother?) OnNowandforthenextfewdays: Technosonic Volume 5. --Kathy, mistress of trance. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ Mick - "Who's fighting and what for? I also grabbed a copy of a Scottish(?) music mag called M8, and on their recommendation I bought Club Together CD (Eng. import, $25 - ouch) and MPeople - One Night in Heaven. Haven't had a chance to listen to either yet. Anyone heard them? fuzzed out in canoga park, ca.
