A few weeks ago I received the latest updated schedule from WARP, with some very interesting information on it. Autechre's new album, `Amber', was released on Monday, and on the twenty-first, lads and lasses, WARP promises to unleash a new LFO single, titled `Tied Up'. The twenty-eighth sheds daylight on a new Sabres Of Paradise album, bearing the name `Haunted Dancehall'. The ever-delayed Black Dog album, `Spanners', has moved to be released not until january. The update mentioned a K Hand single with the title `Global Warning', supposedly released on the seventeenth of October; has anyone found it, and thus, listened to it? Comments? Accompanying the update, I found a DR-designed Seefeel Information card in the envelope, with some interesting information indeed. The next Seefeel release will be under the RePHLeX flag, named `CH-Vox', with tracks `Utreat', `E-Hix2', `Ch-Vox', `Hive', `Ashdeacon' and `Net'. Promised also are a new EP in December and an album in January '95, both on WARP. January sees also the release of a remix EP on Impure, with `Starethrough (Charlottes Dub)', `Signals (Momentum 1.0)' and `Filter Dub (Low Pass Mx)' included. I suggest you keep on waiting for the Black Dog album, because it won't be out till January but boy is it worth the wait. I must admit the first album didn't impress me that much, but this new one is really interesting, diverse and fun. It's like they screwed there heads on right, looked at what has been going on in the scene lately, and took that a step further. I might even parallel it to the new Plastikman album-Musik-, because of it's seriousness and all around diversity. It's called---SPANNERS---- on WARP Recs. (if my memory serves me correct!) Good things come to those who wait Matthew H.

Yes I got this too.

Got it! Got it! Very lucky to grab a promo CD of this in Brum for UKP 10 at the weekend! Pretty much what you'd expect if you know "Wilmot" and the previous single "Theme" (both included) - lots of slow metallic dubby atmospheric grooves, with influences from the jazzy side of things, ambient interludes, even sounding slightly Aphexy in places -one track reminds me of "Blue Calx" but with a beat! I can supply a full tracklisting and transcript of the press sheet if anyone wants.

And no release date for the next LFO LP yet! - I seem to remember one of these update sheets in the summer of 93 proclaiming it TBC Nov 93 !!

Yes I got it. Pretty basic raw techno/acid stuff. Dark and moody "This is a Global Warning . And not a Wave Station /??/" vocal. Sample from I think the 3-Phase/Dr Motte track off the 1st Tresor compilation on NovaMute (that scratchy metallic noise). The other 2 tracks didn't strike me as being as strong as the first, but no doubt a few more listens will reveal their hidden depths, as usually happens with WARP stuff. This is not IDM in the (ai) sense, but its pretty good stuff all the same - fits in if you like RAC, Plastikman, that kinda thing.

I was once told Feb 93 :) However I've been told *definately* Feb 95. It's called _Advance_ apparently. We'll see. greg 3 0 3

Nice and hard. Not your typical Warp fodder but that doesn't matter. My only gripe with it is that one of the tracks is called _Acid 101_. What a shit name... Lots of great kick-drummy beats. [CiM] s.walley@sys.uea.ac.uk http://www.sys.uea.ac.uk/~u9323899/

As for Warp, LFO's new single "Tied Up" was already sent to me.. Quite different..and LFO always seems to be on top of things, although I hope the style of this new single is not the new trend..it is quite industrial sounding.. one of the mixes starts out real nice with a solid minimal beat but then goes hard and "NIN"ish..I didn't really go for it, but others definately might. I also got a 12" from Autechre..forgot what it was called.. Mostly ambient type, but there is one track with a very fast, interesting breakbeat which could be mixed, if done right, into a jungle set..could be fun! -Dylan.

I think you are talking about _Flutter_ on the anti EP, which "has been programmed so as not to contain any repetitive beats" as a CJB protest. (hence the very complex rhythm patterns in this track). It can "be played at 33 or 45 rpm without breaking the new law" according to the information provided, but you should "have a lawyer and a musicologist present at all times to help in the event of police harassment" or something like that. It's not so fast if played at 33, and is actually quite beautiful and haunting, especially the 5min long fading beatless outro. All in an excellent ep - the other 2 trax (Lost and Djarum) are good too, and I don't think any of them are on _Amber_ J ^

Warpy acid. Good. Clean, crisp...more crisp than warm. Similar sounds on all three tracks, 707-ey. Has that Warp production feel to it that, say, Blueprint had... Also thanks Mom and Dad on the record, which is nice ;-) -morgan geist
