From: Michael Hauben <hauben@cs.columbia.edu> To: orb@xmission.com Well, Picked up this week's Village Voice, and saw that "dr. alex patterson (of the orb) w/ D.J. Lewis" are playing at the Limelight in NYC on Tues, Nov 8. Guess this confirms the breakup here in NYC - as the good Doctor is not being listed as "THE ORB" but rather "of the Orb". Still planning to go if it's not too late a show (got school and all the next day), and it should be cool. Hopefully he'll be "creating" and not just spinning. -Michael

alex dj's all the time, drawing the conclusion that since he is djing by himself the orb have broken up is silly. alex is not THE orb, but rather a part of it. when alex is just djing he doesn't call himself the orb either.

prolly just spinning. by the way, calling him a doctor is also silly, since he isn't one. i think the big fuss over whether or not the orb is breaking up or not is worthless. let's examine these points: alex said the orb would release 6 or so albums and then break up. it was bound to happen sooner or later. i personally don't think they are breaking up. why? remember that article that the new orbital would be jungle? yeah, it was real jungle. not one bit of jungle in the whole damn thing. NME is a joke. and even if the orb does break up, i don't think alex or kris would stop making music, and anyway, there are tons of other artists out there who are just as good if not better. -- @ ''''#####'.#.'#####''''' . This might be of interest to you all, if comes from a local (Sydney) dance newspaper called "3D World". ORB fans need not worry about the future of the band's existence after it was announced that Kris Weston was to depart as a full-time member. The bands statement read; "Kris decided many months ago that he will prefer not to do live engagements with The Orb and would prefer to work in a studio environment." They have already found a replacement - Andrew Hughes who has previously played with the band at their appearance at Woodstock II as well as some recent Norwegian dates. Hughes has also played with The Orb in studio time. Regards, John /-------------------------------------------------------------------\ | JOHN BUS (aka. i guess we have to keep our fingers crossed for a new collaboration/configuration whatever, any ideas who they might team up with individually or going solo...there might be a new moniker appearing somewhere soon :) OnNow: Soulfree::alter ego _/ _/ _/ _/_/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/_/_/ _/_/ _/_/_/ surfing on sine wave
