I heard this (Aurora Borealis) today (yes folks, I made it to Hollywood to
Beat Non Stop for the first time in 3 months). There was one OK track, but
otherwise not very exciting (IMO). However, I *did* wet my pants over the new
Virtual Symmetry on Eye-Q, so I bought that. Dunno if that's considered IDM,
though. I also picked up the Eye-Q "Behind the Eye" comp, but that's probably
considered Trance and not IDM too, so I won't mention it :-) This probably
isn't IDM either, but it was nice to see that Moonshine put out Hardfloor's
"TB Resuscitation" domestically (State-side, that is).
Speaking of Laurent Garnier, I passed over that 2XL-2 (or whatever it is)
comp. I only had time to scan it a little, but it didn't thrill me and the
fact that the CD player thought it was 1 track pissed me off, so I tossed it
back. Did I make a too-hasty mistake? I also threw back "Temple of
Transparent Balls" ...
I remember hearing people grumble about how FAX releases are so limited (500
copies, or somesuch?). Should I be surprised that I found 3 FAX CDs? Otaku's
"Ambiant Otaku", Pete Namlook & Dr. Atmo's "Escape", and an Atom Heart live
CD. I passed on the Atom Heart because the first 5 minutes all sounded like
it was recorded in a wind tunnel, and it was all exactly alike. I'm outta my
Industrial phase now, so this didn't wet my whistle. Bought the other two.
Prices on CDs are insane. Collateral damage incurred:
Hardfloor "TB Resuscitation" $16.99 US domestic, 1 CD
Otaku "Ambiant Otaku" $18.99 import, 1 CD
Eye-Q compilation $26.99 import, 1 CD - ouch! And Digipak too!
Namlook & Atmo "Escape" $32.99 import, 2 CD - ouch! 30 %@$*$ bucks!
Virtual Symmetry 12" $ 8.99 import - I used to pay $8.99 for LPs!

Total 113.61 All for 4 CDs and one bloody 12"
All I can say is, Jamie must have awfully rich parents or a damn good
inheritance. I sure as h*ll can't keep up with things if 4 CDs and a 12" is
over 100 dollars! Sheesh!

P.S. And I don't dare mention their "Japanese tourist" clothing prices ...
