Hello again, news letter no.9 this time, & here's the two main bits of
news straight off:
OUR FIRST OSCILLATE ALLNIGHTER, June 3rd at the Que club. It's two years
now since Oscillate began, so it's a bit of a special occasion this one.
Three live acts, an extra large sound system, regular Oscillate non-dj's
HIA & (new regular) Stef from A Positive Life, plus special guest on the
decks, Paul Hartnoll (Orbital), extra visuals, a chillout room, a nice
venue.....
HIA will be on first, being the hosts, followed by Sun Electric, and
Locust. It runs from 9 till 6, and there is a soft drinks licence all
night, NO ALCOHOL will be available. We would advise buying tickets in
advance, (stlg10) not only to be sure of getting in, but also to get in
quicker, since the queue for ticket holders will be let in first.
We've heard that the whole process of getting in takes quite a while,
partly because of the THOROUGH SEARCHES - please take note!
Tickets will be available at The Plastic Factory record shop on
Corporation Street right up till 5.30 on the day of the Oscillate (if not
sold out), also from the Ambient Soho record shop, 5 Berwick St. London.
If you live miles away from either of these places, then you can get them
from us if you send a STAMPED ADDRESSED ENVELOPE, no later than 26th May,
to the address below, enclosing stlg10 per ticket. If by cheque, make it
out to 'Oscillate music'.
NEXT MAJOR HAPPENING: Keep the first weekend in August clear, especially
all you ORBITAL, HIGHER INTELLIGENCE AGENCY, OSCILLATE, AUTECHRE,
AMSTERDAM and GENERALLY HAVING A GOOD TIME ENTHUSIASTS, because we're off
to Holland to do a big all-nighter in a massive empty gas-holder (a round
one). It's on August 6th, and apart from the above named acts playing
live, there will be the telepathic fish/open-mind collective in the chill-
out tent, alongside Mixmaster Morris, and sound sculptor Jony Easterby,
and there'll be two more live acts to be confirmed. We really hope that a
lot of you will make your way over there, because after all, it wouldn't
feel like a proper Oscillate without you regular Oscillators there. Call
us in a few weeks (after June 3rd) if you want to go, we'll have more
details then on where to get tickets, how much, how to get there, etc...
OUR REGULAR OSCILLATES at Bonds continue as usual...May 27th no live act,
instead we have Dr Alex Paterson from The Orb as a special guest on the
decks. June 10th we have a MIDI Circus/Oscillate, with the Drum Club and
Pressure Of Speech playing live. June 24th, not sure yet, we might make it
a bit of a 'Mini Glastonbury' night, for those of us still in Birmingham -
'bring a teepee night' perhaps! It's possible that we'll have System 7
playing, but it's not confirmed.
HIA LIVE DATES...May 20th: Megadog, The Rocket. May 27th: Obsession
Festival. June 3rd: Que Club. June 16/17/18th MIDI Circus (Newcastle/
Aberdeen/Edingburgh). June 1/2/3rd: Berlin Festival. July 30th: Copenhagen
"Ambient Day in a Park". August 6th: Amsterdam Oscillate. Their 'REFORM'
ep is out now on Beyond.
OTHER THINGS: The membership cards/later licence at BOnds etc...well, it
hasn't happened as soon as we thought it would, when we last wrote you a
news-letter, but it IS still likely to happen at some point, hopefully not
too far off. If you haven't collected your card, and you want to do it by
post, send us 50p and a STAMPED ADDRESSED ENVELOPE, and we'll mail it to
