I've been kind of biting my tongue, but what the hell...
When does "collectable" meet Capitalism?!? What happened to the
"alternative" standpoint that wasn't about elitism or profit? (Crass and
their "pay no more than..." stance, for instance.)
I guess that Aphex has worked out that us Chinstrokers (even the ones that
like sport, like me!) have quite a bit of disposable income! (Which I
don't!) Personally, I'm all for the undermining of such "elitism" with
downloads! Plus, I've already seen people on this list say "think of how
much it'll be worth on Ebay sometime soon!". So is it the music or is it
the m**** that you like?!?
On the other hand, there are some artists with limited-run 12"s that I
don't mind giving my money to, like Richard H Kirk. The difference is, I
think, that HE never plays on the "this is a limited edition, so get your
orders in now" opportunism! Also, contrast the value-for-money of Analord
10 vs. the Rhythm & Sound 7x7" box set - that box is full, ferchrissake!!!
Ok - flame on!
Clive
