Pretty much 85% of all jungle/drum and bass stuff utilizes the amen break or a similar break. For newer breaks stuff that doesn't get totally crap, check out the new Luke Vibert 12"s under Amen Andrews. The old Plug stuff is better in my opinion. Another of my favorite jungle/d&b producers to use loads of Amens is Photek...Goldie does too....just pick up a jungle/d&b mix cd and see for yourself how much it's used. Hrvatski used pretty much the Amen break for every stinkin' drum sample on his first few records. Even his new Planet-Mu album (which I've heard is all old stuff) uses mostly Amen samples. For earlier stuff, check out...early hiphop. Like Ultramagnetic MC's..that's older than NWA or others that built off them. And this time, Kool Keith is right, everybody stole his shit! Check out TapeOp (www.tapeop.com) for the Hrvatski article that discusses breaks, their overuse, where to download them and where they're from. As for the Eric B & Rakim Arc000...can anybody tell me who does the Prince rework/remix? cheers, chhris -- ******** Toast and Jam Recordings www.tandjrec.com ********* --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
