I'm surprised that no one has mention Beta Bodega with all this talk about foreign policy. Beta Bodega's releasesalways have liner notes to raise awareness about Latin America. They even named one of their releases "B2",named after the CIA-trained death squad that wreaked havoc on Colombia in the '80s. [V/A] "Beta Bodega Coalition: The Psychological Operations in Guerilla Warfare" (Rice and Beans) CD $14.99 Beta Bodega Coalition's newest compilation takes the involvement of the U.S. (and the C.I.A. in particular) with El Salvador's recent tragic history as a theme. Of course, violent manipulation (of computers) has never been something that Beta Bodega's artistes have shied away from, and they reveal themselves here in an angry mood. +++ Here's a quote from the article/URL"Thanks to Washington, D.C.'s continued stompingaround Latin America, Miami's heightened awareness ofthe cultural component in pop shows no signs ofslackening. If not from Cubans, Nicaraguans, orSalvadorans, then from the next decade's beneficiariesof our nation's "low-intensity" wars. Like, say,Colombia." http://www.miaminewtimes.com/issues/1999-09-02/kulchur.html --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! DSL - Now only $29.95 per month!
