Anyone heard anything startling good recently that i should look out for? Lately been listening to lots of Planet Mu promos in the office. Muziq one is pretty good, tho nothing particularily ground breaking, Ambulance one is a bit of a grower and has some amazing moments, The Gasman i haven't listened enough to as i can't remember it, and the Leafcutter John one is really outstanding, pretty weird and dark twisted electronics, very musique concrete mixed with Will Oldham like acoustic meanderings and vocals. Bought the Manitoba 'Up In Flames' last weekend which makes a nice change from straight up electronica. It says on the sticker on the cover 'Like early Mercury Rev on mushrooms' which is quite an apt description! Apart from that, listening to lots of new 8bitrecs.com mp3s, which you should go check out... Osso Bucco NYC born, Florida bred and Barcelona based sonic artist gregg kowalsky's solo project Osso Bucco provides two related compositions of processed emotive textures... http://www.8bitrecs.com/cgi/artinfo.cgi?artist=Osso+Bucco Marshall Watson Seattle based electronic musician delivers some crunchy noise and beats... http://8bitrecs.com/cgi/artinfo.cgi?artist=Marshall+Watson Crashed By Car Brandon Reid Huey in his 'Crashed by Car' guise supplied us with another composition of acoustic instrumentation and electronics, which fits really well with his other releases. New one is named 'Mongolian Hi Fi'. http://www.8bitrecs.com/cgi/artinfo.cgi?artist=Crashed+By+Car -thor |--- Highpoint Lowlife records -----------------\ |---- DoF - 'If more than twenty people laugh, --\ |------------- It Wasn't Funny' --- * out now * --\ | http://www.highpointlowlife.com -----------------\ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
