It's more based on informed decisions rather than blindly buying every new
CD out that week. I have taken risks in purchasing, but even then I have
mostly been pleasantly suprised. (See below)

Yes, what each of us perceive as 'good' is merely subjective. I have bought
albums which initially I thought were crap, only to spend time listening and
hearing it's finer points... I don't like recommending music unless people
have expressed an interest in that sort of style, and are willing to commit
to listening. I usually lend a CD of something similar and if they like
that, then I'll expand on the topic.
