yep -- gotta chime in here -- perlon is fucking brilliant. the description
of the perlon sound as "dry" is right on -- i don't know what it is,
something about the lack of reverb, the space between beats, something.
sort of a cross between Thule and Matt Herbert, played in a padded room?
no, that's not it. the other thing i really dig about the perlon sound is
the use of vocal snippets -- often there are these breathy, quiet vocal
snippets blended in, deep in the mix -- very sexy, but never overtly so.
in other stellar house news, vladislav delay's new 12" as Luomo on forcetrax
is just fucking incredible. real house music, (restrained) diva vocals,
totally inspiring funk... i can't believe it's the same guy. can't wait to
hear the full-length.
