I think you have to trace some (but not all) of this tendency to hip hop,
where mc's would try to get their names known by being sure to repeat them
over and over again during the song.
You have to enjoy when the ghetto boys (geto boyz?) used to go:
"Ghetto Boys...Ghetto Boys....Ghetto Boys...Ghetto Boys"
