Not true. Or more precisely, I know many electronic musicians that are fans of his tracks stuff. And the couple of people I know who've had the chance to hang out with him say he's a nice guy as well. And we do make music, and we do know what's involved. Not only that, my mom (who is a composer, arranger, and record producer 65 years old) likes a lot of aphex twin stuff. I don't expect you to necessarily like aphex twin; nor do I expect Ken Downie to like him. To each his own. But the argument you make that "no musicians like him" is specious and incorrect; it seeks to claim authority based on anecdotal hearsay. I think among musicians there is definitely some jealousy at work here -- "he's making the big bucks and I still have to work for a living." Forget the silly things he says in interviews, ignore the hype, and listen to the music without prejudice. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Kent Williams kent@inav.net -- http://soli.inav.net/~kent
