I was wondering how long it would take someone to mention this. I didn't because I have grown tired of evangelising about electro and hip-hop to this list. It is a great compilation consisting of five CDs, one 12" containing new remixes and a great liner note book that contains the history of Sugarhill as viewed by several different writers. This boxed set and the Rhino Street Jams: Electro Funk and Street Jams: Hip-Hop From the Top are the places to start for old school hip-hop (and the roots of electronica, there, I said it again).
