quoted 3 lines Can anyone give me a rundown on the Gary Moscheles release, "Shaped To Make> Can anyone give me a rundown on the Gary Moscheles release, "Shaped To Make > Your Life Easier" (SSR). I've heard general things about it, but nothing > specific. Is it good? What type of music is it? Sound like anyone?
Although not everyone on the list seemed overjoyed with this release, personally I think it's the best thing Mike P. has done since his first two RePHLeX records (I like it better than most of Urmur Bile as well). A brilliant combination of jazz and electronica with a smattering of hip-hop thrown in for good mesure (nice 303 work too). Much more fully realized than the Jake Slazenger releases I thought, which seemed a bit watered down. The Gary M. record has the same sort of freshness (no pun intended) and playful experimentation that has been lacking in mike's output of late with the exception of the new one. The best comparison I think would be to the Lisa Carbon Trio. Be sure to get the limited viynl with the bonus 7', as it has a great house track not included on the CD. -Gonzi
