I don't think it was really misquoted. It was an example of the way some people throw the word "intelligent" around.

The way you worded it, made it sound like it was "more intelligent dub techno" than other artists in that style. Perhaps you might of meant to say something like he takes it to another level or something like that. If so, at least that is alot more clear because I think people could take the word "intelligent" to mean many different things.

As I'm sure you will probably agree, the way music "moves the mind" is very subjective. What moves one might do absolutely nothing to another. As we see examples of everyday on this list. Since there is no set definition on what "intelligent" means with music, it is still super vague as a description. Try using different adjectives you might find more people understand you.
