I happened on this review of the new Electric Birds CD, and have to say I
found its radical approach to syntax strangely compelling, though not entirely
illuminating ;-)
I think the writer puts it in a nutshell: How otherwise it one have so far
escaped could?... she reminds one of nobody the others.
alan/beyond...sound

Electric Birds - Gradations - (Mille Plateaux MP112)
:: Rough English translation ::
Mike Martinez of the Deluxe record label, where it releast already two CD`s,
that makes beside still extremely interesting generative web pages with a
partner as Parts:Places, convinces one immediately of the fact that there is in
the world too much unbelievably good music, which one knows, how otherwise it
one have so far escaped could? Its TRACKS do not move in still long times
angedachten somewhere field from acoustic music and digital kneeling star,
raise unbelievably close beautiful melodies, work so near and well-known, as if
one would have had them always already in the head, on the other hand in
addition, each mark again on the new fascinatingly, is sometimes strictly
conceived, then simply only lucky, probably is her all that always at the same
time. Its TRACKS consist of some at raw material, often also concretely,
acoustically evenly, as it meant, before the reality was somehow elsewhere
computed, them so beautiful moves in constructions the sometimes simple Beats
to be seems, then again rather architecture, and although that is Powerbook
music naturally somehow, she reminds one of nobody the others. Brilliant. We
continue to investigate. Mike Martinez belongs anyhow on the list of the large
discoveries of the last years.
