i think that the essay on the Daft CD is accurate: there are really two
AoNs: the ZTT label version and the post-ZTT version. The ZTT version
really was onto something incredible. The post-ZTT version just
regurgitated it in ever weaker doses until the whole thing just
self-destructed.

lots of their dub stuff is notable from a production standpoint as well.
predates the ambient dub craze by ten years or so.
