OK! I bought this last Friday. It's on Basic Channel -- BC07 to be exact. Like all the other Basic Channel stuff, there's no clues at all as to who exactly is behind the release, so I figured one or more of the "usual suspects": Maurizio, Carl Craig, et. al. It's _extremely_ minimal, even more so than the other Basic Channel stuff I have, definitely on the ambient side of ambient dub. There's lots of weird cranky harmonics and "from the other side of the ocean" type samples, on top of a slowish muffled beat. Definitely more chill-out room than dancefloor.

Hooray, new Drexciya! Haven't seen this one yet. Is it on UR or Rephlex? ----------------------------------------------------------------- dave walker, detroit art services _ marmoset@msen.com play sim freeke

This record sounds alot like.. uh.. Basic Channel.. particularly #5.. I still think it smokes (I'd smoke while listening to this stuff).. One mix is just the minimal noise wash and the dissonent chords, the other side has this eery soul singer fading in and out.. I'd definitely recommend this vinyl though.. It's on gray, mixed with everything colored vinyl.. I'm telling you, this label is the next transmat in terms of collectability..

Ohhh man! This is a smoker.. Watch out for the mispressed vinyl! Two records of pure techno/bass mayhem.. There's even a song called aquabahn in which James chants out "The Aquabahn!".. This record sounds like it was made in '82 or sometin'.. Heavy on the electro beats.. I REALLY recommend this record.. Also like to mention the new Psyance on +8.. I like the b-sides, but "The Answer" really annoys me.. any opinions? ** ******** ********** ********** ******** **Born.Under.A.Rhyming.Planet. +8 Records, Chicago, Il.

It's a double pak.. Number 3 was on Rephlex.. this one from the Submerge crew.. The initial copy I got of this pak contained a slab 1 that made my needle look like it was drunk.. I'm talkin about an inch of sway! Avoid at all costs! Btw, I'm putting in the first vote regarding who is the singer on the Quadrant I Dub (Which is by Cyrus btw of Accelerate fame): Jovonn meets Basic Channel! I finally got myself a copy of "Bug In The Bass Bin", but I was puzzled to find that it's on cobalt blue vinyl.. Now, I know that there was a grey double pak and a lite blue marble 12", but is this a rerelease? Just kurious.. Why do I feel as though I should recognize the name John Drunkman? If there's anybody on this list who either has demos or vinyl releases that they wouldn't mind sending me, I'm interested.. That'd be Jon Drukman. Why should you know that name? 'cos he's part of the Ultraviolet Catastrophe that had the underground hit "The Trip" on Hardkiss records. He also produced another track (God within?) on the same label if im not mistaken - but im sure he'll tell you himself since he's on the list.

He was one of the people convicted in that child-care molestation ring a few years back.

It's unclear who did the a-side on the promo version, but the second track is none other than Dan Curtin in his finest hour... I worship this record.. Jamie
