the soundtrack
'helicopters' starts the tape out w/ a dark, heavy processed beat, with a
low string over top, and the pulsating whir of low flying
choppers..<definite rephlex drum style>
THEy'Ve lanDed
then moves to a lighter sound with 'jupiter III' which seems to soothe you
with its high string, and low bass line until you feel the rising washes in
the background and realize...
You'Re beiNg sCannEd
the 'guru' of all beings is speaking to you now......' he makes you
realise that in the space race your lives are totally subordinate to that
of god' ....and you chime in 'every time he speaks someone just turns a
light on in my head'. The voices end and whips of fliud streams(very
303ish) drift by, creating a beautiful listening track, <i wish this was
extended>..you end up floating away...
TheN begins the fleeing
'cosmic strings' would make for a great dance track...it begins w/ a heavy
beat, bubbling pulses ,Bjork muttering about keyboards and
programming<sounds more like 'crunching on crisps'>, and searing jets, but
then loses it in the middle for a bit when the notes become a bit too
happy, but that's soon forgotten when bjork and those bubbles hit you again
(brendan you have to release this song)
Brendan was correct;) in naming this album cosmic strings, for its laden
with that ethereal synth sound...
'econet+' has a dark deep beat replete with those strings, but the two
don't seem to match up. then 'solaria' comes up w/ some off key notes and
just can't make it
BUT 'periphery' comes up restores my faith. This is the best track on the
tape imho, w/ a flowing beat and melody, and the fitting sample about
decapitation;). He got the notes tied in perfectly on this one
(brendan people even called in on my show last night asking about it)
then my mind is tied with the last track, a great dark trancer(which gets
cut off, and of all songs *to be*)
the beats on this tape are excellent, he says most ambient works take their
beat from slowed down trance tracks, but believes this is garbage...so
where do you get them from ma93ben.
There are some great sounds on this tape; this chap has got it together...i
highly recommend guru, cosmic strings, periphery, and the
soundtrack....just dig deep into those masters ;)
keep a watch out for a 'zine coming your way w/ a review of this and other
new releases, interviews w/ Terre Thaemlitz, and Laurent Garnier, world
reports, visual art and some high wierdness....
any idea on how to get this online including graphics?
