i received this email a short while back, and decided to forward it to the list. please respond off-list to maryw@princeton.edu -------------------------------------------------- I'm doing an encyclopedic entry on women in electronic dance music (or "techno"). I know that this is a broad topic, but I'm asking various people so that I won't overlook someone. If you have the time to answer the following questions, I would be eternally grateful. In what capacity are women involved in techno? In production? As artists/composers? As listeners? Can you estimate more or less what percentage of women are involved in these different areas? Who are some more well-known women in this area? Thanks so much. mary c. wright ---------------------------------------------------------------------- .. brian rachielles clickpop@hyperreal.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Is it just me, or are there more post-ops, transexuals and transvestites in electronic music than actual out of the womb women? Terre Thaemlitz, 1.8.7 and Wendy Carlos come to mind, but I know there are more.... Almost makes me consider..... well, a career move. Note that the request is for women in *electronic dance music*, where women are represented pretty well in the studio and even better in the audience (i.e., the dancefloor), not *IDM* where things are pathetically different.
