** sorry this isnt idm at all ** I've noticed you chaps in the US mention tvt mail order. I was wondering exactly what the siuation is with them & Wax Trax. Ages ago I tried to order some 12s from wax trax... then 1/2 a year later i received this cd sized booklet trying to flog me all warp's artificial intelligence series. I was most annoyed because they seemed to imply that they had in some way taken over Wax Trax .... BUT they seem to have deleted all the old Wax Trax 12s that I was after. ( old Thrill Kill Kult singles etc. ) Please tell me this is not the case! Chris Giles u90cmg@ecs.ox.ac.uk

It seems that Wax Trax! is still in operation as a division of TVT. They are still putting out new releases with both labels' names on them. Mike Mike J. I think what happened is that WAx Trax grew very fast, but many of their acts went to major labels and Wax Trax needed money fast to make up for lost income of those bands. So, they licensed much of their catalog to TVT. Wax Trax is still a viable label, but are back where they were several years ago--trying to break new bands. stu 8)

Wax Trax is alive. Well, at least they're on life support. TVT bought them out, rereleased a lot of the back catalog with TVT logos and catalog #s hastily grafted onto the old artwork, and gave them some $ with which to seek out new bands. The WaxTrax/TVT entity has rereleased all of the Warp AI series (with the exception of Speedy J), continues to maintain the one band that stuck with them (KMFDM) and is also releasing some new stuff. My friend just got a promo for an actual WaxTrax new signing called PSYKOSONIK and I can cheerfully report that it sucks huge rocks. So now you know. Actually, Psychosonik has been signed to them for months, I believe 5 or 6 of them. I don't have any of the member's addresses offhand, but they're all on CompuServe (the addresses are supposedly in the CD book) so please be sure to tell them just what ya think! For those of you who haven't had the (dis)pleasure of hearing Psychosonik, all that needs to be said is that their ""Big Hit"" (where?) is called "Silicon Jesus".
