I got one.... It was $15 in Gramaphone rec in Chicago... Very minimalistic, oftenly much more minimalistic then most of the releases on FAX.... But the good thing that it has some "raw" flavor to it, I know it is not a good term, but it does sound like it.... I guess if you are not into "hard-core" ambience you will really hate this record... It sort of reminds me of 2500 Broadway, Silence and Fires Of Ork (sp?) merged together. Mike

I recently picked up Chill Out or Die I, which is quite good, IMHO. Track 4 (Ongaku - Mihon) is one of my favorites, and I noticed that Atom Heart was one of the collaborators. I seem to remember this name being thrown around on the list. Can anyone give me some more info? Is the track on Chill Out .... representative? Thanks, Ryan

I went thru an 'atom heart phase' myself and to complicate matters further, I've seen a number of his projects unders pseudonyms, especially on FAX records. Coeur Atomique on the sublabel that has a triangle in the upper right hand corner. Usually trancey stuff. On FAX, he has albums as Coeur Atomique as well as ambient projects under just plain Atom Heart. Atomu Shinzu is usually breakbeat-ish stuff but I haven't seem much of this stuff.

Mihon #1 is the one with all the Star Trek samples which was on Chill Out Or Die and Mihon #3 is the acid stomper which was on The Secret Life of Trance #1. M/S/O is another side project/different band. Not sure what it stands for. Bi-Face is Atom Heart with DJ F.E.O.S, this is the same Pascal F.E.O.S. that's in FAX's Hearts of Space and of Harthouse fame. Bi-Face's PEACE EP on Injection Records is great dance floor material. The track "ambience 137" also by bi-face is also on the Secret Life of Trance comp.

Atom Heart has a compilation devoted just to him and his side projects on Pod records. It's out domestically on Instinct records. The Lisa Carbon stuff is very weird trippy jazzy/funk stuff. You can also find stuff of his on Delirum (hardcore label) or on After 6am (Delirium's ambient/soft trance label which released a good compilation on CD). ___ / / / / / / _ __/ (_/__/ / (__ (__ ___/

I have a compilation called 'Pod Communications presents Atom Heart'--very acidic stuff! Lots of acid squiggles as is on 'Mihon'---come to think of it, 'Mihon' is on this compilation. I really love it for its acid squiggle build up.

Hi! I just heard a cd of 'Atom Heart', called 'Morphomogenic fields' (or something like that;-) ).. It's very good, despite it's name. It's on Rough Trade. Very Dark and ambient like. I guess you can put it in the ambient-techno box. Is there someone with some more info on this cd and the people who made it? CU!

Atom Heart is just another pseudonym for Uwe Schmidt. Teep was recently asking who Lisa Carbon is and that is just another name that he uses for "post jazz funk swing" (or something like that - available on Instinct). Every name that he uses represents another of the many styles that this prolific musician can accomplish on his own and in collaboration. Most of his projects come out of Germany. I consider the Morphogenetic Fields album more of a sampler of the sort of thing that he is doing these days. The track "Milagro" was remixed along with some other songs that didn't make it onto the album and was released as a "black label" 12" with no writing on it whatsoever and as a CD single. As you can tell from the writing on this album, he is a member of MACOS - "musicians against copywrighting of samples." His intelligent dance music mostly comes out on FAX (check out the multiple refrences in my discography of the label on hyperreal.com/music/labels/fax) and on his own label called Rather Interesting. He also does a lot of ambient under that name as well as what I would call intelligent house and intelligent acid house. His alternative/indie/industrial project is Lassigue Bendthaus. On Delirium he does hardcore and on the sublabel, After 6AM, he does ambient and soft trance. On POD, when it was around, he was doing very experimental trance, acid and IDM kind of stuff which you can find on the Instinct compilation. On Injection, when that was around, he did some more dance floor friendly trance. His name is all over the original Secret Life of Trance compilation from Rising High. He's quite versatile and I've been following what he does for a few years now. I find he's usually ahead of his time for what he does. Let me know if you would be interested in any suggestions for certain styles of music. ___ / / / / / / _ __/ (_/__/ / (__ (__ ___/

Oh yes indeed! I've also seen Uwe play live twice this year and he's brilliant! Once AT the Love Parade / Interference Festival (Berlin) and also at SONAR (Barcelona) Spains first ambient festival ... I'm still in love with the Pink Elln / Atom Heart live ep, a classic recording of live techno music (still a rare breed!) also the ORANGE album on FAX is awesome talented, versatile and a nice chap as well. (very shy though!) lisa carbon trio will doubtless gain him a whole new audience ... morris OnNow : GESCOM ep Autechre & Friends -------------------------------------------------------------------------- --- GLOBAL CHILLAGE the new LP from IRRESISTIBLE FORCE out NOW!!!(UK) --- --- on RISING HIGH & ASTRALWERKS (soon!) or from the MMM WWW server --- --- http://www.southern.com/MMM/homepage.html (in the uk) --- --- http://www.mit.edu:8001/people/trellos/homepage.html (in the US) --- --------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found a discography at: http://hyperreal.com:70/0/music/artists/atom_heart/discog Rather intimidating amount of stuff. I'd been collecting the Lassigue Bendthaus material for 3-4 years, recently discovered this is the same artist as Atom Heart. Despite grabbing everything I could, seems I've missed a good 2/3rds of it! Anyway, I'd be grateful to anyone who can help track down more of this stuff.

For the fans of this eclectic genius, there is a Japanese only release out in his Senor Coconut guise called "El Baile Aleman" which is his faux-latin interpretations of 10 Kraftwerk numbers. I have it on a CDR so I dont know the label or any details beyond the titles. Never an overhuge fan of Kraftwerk - but major respect - or faux-latin, thisrelease is delightful! Every track sparkles with creativity, humour and its funky as hell. Even a Beachboys vocal pastiche that works a treat. Highly recommended Tonebone np: Company Flow "Little Johhny from the Hospital", whoops just finished... now Fort Lauderdale "1001 Revolutions" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

uwe schmidt, aka atom heart does a strange variety of music. his early works as lassigue bendthaus/atom heart were more techno and industrial orientated. eventually both projects evolved into a series of different electronics projects tied together by the fact that uwe schmidt programs all the music. his stuff with burnt friedmann known as flanger is more jazz orientated. his collaborations with FAX label/ownder Pete Kuhlmann (Pete Namlook) are jazz, ambient, idm orientated. other recent projects are more electronic latin orientated, as he moved from the overcrowded and unimaginative german electronic scene to south america. very glitchy, electronic techno-pop. there are to many releases and projects to name. really. uwe schmidt was doing glitch style programming many years before his contemporaries. many have tried copying his style, but few are as imaginative imho and his projects. he has over 100 releases. most of his releases are limited releases, and are all worth checking out. pop artificial should be available...glitchy idm orientated covers of pop tunes. renderby his lassigue bendthaus moniker is early 90's electro-pop industrial. senor coconut is uwe schmidt's latin alter ego. uwe also uses the famous kyma capybara sound design system by symbolic sound. with the system, he is able to design and morph complex sounds with his powerbook. his material is available under his RI (rather interesting) sublabel of FAX records. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
