I have two CDs by them : Iran and United States Of Islam. Both are very good, but neither are in any way techno, so that sort of goes along with the reviews that you heard. I hadn't heard that they were doing anything with a techno/ambient bent, so this is interesting news. Their earlier stuff has the throbby, thick, lush ethnic percussion, but with minimal or no sounds of any kind or instrumentation at all. I wouldn't have called it 'world music' either, though. It would be hard to classify. Experimental percussion maybe? I used to correspond with them by snailmail : if you're interested in the band, you should write. They're very nice and actually respond to letters hand-written with some care shown as to your questions and such. *> Irfon-Kim Ahmad :: To subscribe to the Friends-of-If <* *> ahmadi@declab.queensu.ca (internet) :: mailing list, send email with a <* *> Irfon-Kim Ahmad@1:249/121 (fidonet) :: "subscribe <address>" subject. <*
